For the first time in Scotland, 2 of the countries dedicated photography galleries is teaming up to bring you this premium photography competition open to all photographers both from the UK and Internationally. 

Glasgow 2023 is a photographic competition that will showcase the work of photographers at Sogo Arts Gallery in Glasgow in May/June 2023.
Sogo arts is an arts-led space that provides artists and others and the public with a range of opportunities to make and engage with the creative industries in Glasgow, they host exhibitions, organise salons for discussion, host student groups and work with other galleries across Europe.
Previously we created and published SOGO magazine.

 

Our key interest is in hosting exhibitions for work that may not easily find a place elsewhere. Consequently, we have had very successful exhibitions by David Pratt, war photographer, Brian McFie abstract artist, Brian Sweeney, photographer, Bob Hardy photographer [Franz Ferdinand], Chris Leslie photographer, ‘A Balkan Journey’, photographer Angela Catlin and poet Henry Bell, ‘Still Life’ and the Unlikely clan who did a show of figurative, narrative paintings.

The competition is being organised and curated by the Glasgow Gallery of Photography curatorial team.

The exhibition is an open call for the following categories, Amateur and Professional. 


Winners will have their work exhibited for 1 month at Sogo Arts, Glasgow in May/June 2023 with a special opening event.


Submission Deadline:  Extended to 14th March

Acceptance Notification: Extended to 17th March

Payment Deadline: Extended to 24th March

Entrance Fee: £38.00
 

STEP 1: Choose up to 5 images that are 300ppi (any genre)
and 3000 Pixels minimum on the shortest side. Work will be displayed various sizes.
(You will be asked to resubmit if you do not follow these guidelines)

STEP 2: Name your image file with your name e.g  JohnSmith1
(If you do not name your images correctly they could be lost or misplaced and delay the exhibition. Please only use your name, do not include image titles or any other information)

STEP 3: Make sure your image is a JPEG, we can only except jpegs as this is what the printing company that we use requires.


STEP 4: Send us your 1 to 5 jpegs via Wetransfer/Dropbox (These are free to use) to Submissions@glasgowgalleryofphotography.com

Please tell us your name and nationality and/or where you reside (these will be displayed along with your selected images.)
